Somfy sunscreens

Under Consideration

When I put the Somfy (sunscreens) in learning mode to join with the zipabox, does it loose the original settings? Will I still be able to operate the blinds with the remote control as before (same upper and lower stopping points)?

When zipabox then operates the sunscreens, does it not respect the original upper and lower limits? As you need to set the number of secondes for up and down, I am afraid that it could overrun (go to far up or down).

The sunscreens cannot easily be reset (cannot easily reach the power supply one by one). In total there are 12 seperate operatble sunscreens.

When you install a somfy rts sunscreen u use the original somfy remote to set the upper and lower positions. These are stored in the sunscreen hardware. Not in the somfy or other remote.

So the Zipato implementation cannot cause any damage concerning that (unles you programmed wrong positions).

There is aproblem: when you use the remote the Zipabox does not know that. For instance: if the screen is in the upper position and you use the remote tot put the screen in a certain position the Zipabox still thinks that the screen is in the upper position.

So for programming full down or full up, if I set the number of seconds in the zipabox slightly higher than it actually takes to go fully down or up, this would work? The sunscreen will anyhow stop at the inital (original) programmed upper or lower position.

I do not really want to stop in the middle via control by zipabox, only fully up of fully down.

the best way is to set the offsets. Not extra time on the blind. Otherwise 50% of an extra 2 seconds, for example, will not be 50% of the total measurement of the distance it need to cover. Use the offsets and set them to 2 seconds. This means the blind, when it thinks it is fully opened of closed, will allow for an extra 2 seconds on opening/closing time.

Yes, That is the way I have done it. Actually i do not use the original remote anymore. I control all the screens with either the Zipato desktop or mobile.

Thanks, worked great. Added all screens without any problem.

One additional remark/question though. In the online control center I can operate the blinds by pushing on the icon. This immediately brings the blinds 100% down or up.

In the android app I cannot push on the icon for the specific blind (it doesn't do anything). I can only use the '+' and '-' buttons. This is cumbersum as you need to push serveral times to reach 100% or 0%. If you want to operate 5 of the 12 blinds this takes a while. Is there an alternative or solution for this? Creating a scene is not a solution as there a tons of combinations if you have 12 sunscreens.

I agree, bring back the slider. But I still think scenes would be a better solution. How many options do you have for you blinds? I realise 12 is a lot, but do you really adjust them to so many different settings, and why? Could you not just have them programmed to adjust automatically too.

You can also create a rule with a virtual level controller, or use a particular blind, that controls a "group" of blinds. see attachment. Not sure if this is 100%correct as I cant test it

I agree with Adrian. The push and hold button is not that ideal. I also liked the slider more.

Another solution is to create virtual switches. Since you are using only the 0 or 100 positions you can simulate that with a switch and a rule. Hide the screens in the user interface.

More better is to automate some actions. Since you know the sunrise and sunset moments (virtual weatherstation) you can act on that. Or place a light intensity meter on some places.
