Hi Zipato,

Is the Fibaro Smoke Sensor fully support by the zipabox?

I'm about to order 5 of them.

Thanks!

Very good product, i would like buy some but je ne peux pas supporter

d'acheter du matériel sans avoir la certitude qu'il sont pleinement

supporté par la box.

FGRM221 is not full supported yet since 1 month . . .

I love this box and sure team have much work and do the best but still have the worst communication for user invests as we !

Hi HeroS,

I will test this tomorrow and will let you know what is supported. I have 2 and will check tomorrow night.

I am also interested in these and the flood sensor.

Does anyone know if the Fibaro Flood Sensor works with the Zipabox?

photo

Yup, works fine. Beside the shocksensor this only works when you use the alarm option. I doesn't trigger in rules without this.

I just added the Fibaro Smoke Sensor and out of the box it's not working.

The device is seen as a Routing_Alarm_Sensor and you will need to change it to a Fire Sensor. For as far as i know you should also be able to messure at least the temperature and get the status of the battery.

I tried to change the device type of the GROUP2 and GROUP3 items in the device settings without any luck.

I attached the screenshots i made directly after i added the device to the Zipato Box.

If anyone has idea please let me know.

I will test if i can see if the device has been triggered, but first will need to start a fire, but that will be tomorrow since my kids are sleeping at the moment.

Hi Slash,

Thanks for the screendumps. To bad it's not working out of the box. Can you cannot support about this?

Hi HeroS,

I created a support ticket at Zipato so lets see what happens.

What i did see this morning that the battery status is suddenly there so only thinh missing would be the temperature sensor. I will start a fire today to check if the detection is shown in the control center and will let you know

Attached 2 screenshots of the devices

Pas je dan wel op huis :)

Zie dat je in Purmerend woont. Kom zelf uit de Gors (varen buurt) woon nu in Bovenkarspel.

I triggered the Smoke sensor (i used an e-sigaret as the provides fake smoke :) ) and can see the detection in the Zipato Control Center.

Once i stopped the alarm i still shows "sensor on" (smoke detected) after 15 minutes in the control center. Also after a reboot of the Zipato Box the sensor still shows as smoke detected. There is also nothing that provides the ability to acknowledge the "alarm".

Got a response from Zipato (seems i can get new devices faster than them :) )

We have already ordered the Fibaro FGSS-001 sample, and it should arrive by the end of the next week. It won't be supported until it arrives at our lab, as remote support can often be problematic. Your ticket will remain open until this device is supported.Kind regardsMilan

Hehehe, great!

Hi HeroS,

For as far as i know you can set Param 10 (Temperature Report Interval) to 1-17280 (5sec-24h), the default is 0 that means No report.

Param 13 is for Alarm broadcast mode

I tried settings these parameters but had no luck getting the temperature metering show in my control center

Maybe i am doing something wrong here, any idea?

Hi!

Just got info from the support that the Smoke sensor should work now. :)

photo

Yes it's supported ......

Device is seen as Generic Sensor Sensor. I hope that Zipato changes the way it's displayed to a Fire sensor. Also the temperature meter has the meter icon and NOT the temperature icon. If you change the device to a Fire Sensor it will have the correct icon but the temperature will not be displayed then.

I have set the Temperature Interval to 30 seconds (value 6) to get result fast and it's working.

I see that by default Acoustic and Visual Alerts are set to BOTH_INACTIVE which means (correct me if i am wrong) that no siren or visual warning in case of a fire.

Also i have enabled ALARM_BROADCAST so if 1 smoke sensor is triggered the other should also change to alarm state.

Thanks Zipato

Hi Slashroot

Thanks for the update. Does the device have 2 end points?

photo
1

Yes 2 end points, fire sensor + temp

photo

I did also see that device type is Flood :)

Would you happen to know if it's possible to name the Temperature Sensor different than the Fire Sensor????

I watched the screenshot SmokeSensor2.jpg about setup the sensor. I have already it on my zipabox but I don't have this option. I must do something to have ? Synchronize, update ?

Tried to re-apply descriptors?

photo

Thank you for your response. But how I can do it ? I need exlude the sensor and include it again ?

photo

Just click on Total Devices in Gerneral part

Select your smoke sensor "folder"

Click on Configuration TAB

Click on the button as marked on the screenshot

Thank you for your help, but when I wrote the post I didn't have "re-apply device description".

I have exluded and included the sensor and now I could setup it after click on the button....

Since I had a ticket open for some time with Zipato Support for this Smoke Sensor I reported my finding in that ticket so hopefully they will make some changes coming week.

My report:

Yes it's supported ......

-Device is seen as "Generic Sensor Sensor" and device type is defined as "Flood". Would be nice to have that Fire Sensor icon

-Temperature meter has the meter icon and NOT the temperature icon.

-Battery status is displayed

-By default Acoustic and Visual Alerts are set to "BOTH_INACTIVE" which means (correct me if i am wrong) that no siren or visual warning in case of a fire. I changed this to BOTH_ACTIVE off course.-Also i have enabled ALARM_BROADCAST so if 1 smoke sensor is triggered the other should also change to alarm state.Small test:Trigger Fire alarm using e-sigaret:-Smoke sensor blinks and siren sound OK. The sensor is NOT displayed as "sensor on" in the control center-Siren stops if you press button for 3 seconds (1 time press does not work) Visual alarm will not stop even after the 3 second press. You will need to remove battery and after you reinserted battery all is normal again.-ALARM_BROADCAST has been enabled but other sensor (with same setting) was NOT triggered-Tamper protection is working OK ; if device is removed from socket my Fibaro RGBW received they alarm and started a scene-Fire Alarm also triggers Fibaro RGBW module by setting to white 100%-I checked but no events are being logged/displayed regarding the triggering of the fire sensor (also not in live view). Only events are temperature related.

Zipato made some changes and the outcome is: ......

-The Smoke sensor is now displayed as a sensor-Device Type is "Fire" now-Sensor icon would be nice if it would have Fire Sensor icon thoughIf Device is changed to Fire Sensor the temperature meter is shown with Normal meter counter.

Tested Smoke sensors and triggered them by using e-sigarette:-Smoke sensor alarm is OK-Smoke Sensor in Control sensor stays on status "No smoke"-Broadcast to other sensors doesn't work-No events are logged regarding the smoke alarm (only temperature events)

So basically the only thing improved is that you have a temperature sensor now with the correct icon :)

photo

Thanks for the update.

But uuhh:

Smoke Sensor in Control sensor stays on status "No smoke". That's a big problem.

photo

Same here!

Fibaro also claim That there is a "black-box" That stores the level of smoke.

How can we see That info?

photo
1

We're not sure if we will be able to access the data in the black box. Newer Fibaro devices use proprietary Fibaro Z-wave command classes that are of course, not documented.

Zipato made some changes this morning and all should work.....

My reply in the support case:

Sorry for the Bad news:-Removed both sensors-Restarted zipabox-Added both sensors-Changed name off the devices and allocated a room-1 sensor "says" sensor off and the other no smoke (weird, same device type)-Set temperature interval to 6-Set Broadcast to enable-Triggered both smoke sensors separate-Smoke alarm is beeping + lights-Broadcast is not working only one device in alarm at a time-On both sensors there is no status change (sensor on / smoke ...)-Set broadcast to disabled-reset zipabox-triggered both sensors again individually but got the same result again - not triggeredAlso Events are only showing temperature meteringAm i doing something wrong????

photo

Progress:

-Smoke Sensor is seen as Sensor and Temperature meter is also OK. Still would like fire icon :)

-Pushing button 10 seconds runs test and you will see smoke detected now in the zipato control center

-Weird thing is that Temperature is measured by default while setting is 0 which means disabled

-Using the test button it seems that BROADCAST is not working unless this only works if there is no test

One other weird thing is that after i enabled BROADCAST (on 2 smoke sensors) all Z-wave devices just powered off when i ran the smoke sensor test (pushing button 10 seconds). To my understanding this setting would mean that the other Fibaro Smoke sensors would also beep.

Is there anybody who knows if this is thrue. Is the smoke sensor just a sensor, or is it possible to use it as an alarmdevice (an actuator)?

I wondered, because i can image that constantly lisning if the are signals from other smoke sensors have great impact on the batterylife.

I don't think it can be trigged by another smoke dectector. See here:

http://forum.fibaro.com/viewtopic.php?t=3327

The broadcast can trigger other devices with the alarm actived. Like the Fibaro Relay switch will flash xx times.

Response from Zipato:

It's unlikely that other smoke sensor will react to the broadcast since the are probably not awake at that specific time. Fibaro smoke sensor is not a flirs device. Although it would make sense that it is, since it's a smoke sensor. Now, about the broadcast functionality. I have added another configuration option to the configuration tab, option nr.5. It lets you select what kind of of frame will be transmitted when smoke is detected to group 1. And by default, it is set to BASIC_SET. So when there's a smoke alarm the device will send a BASIC_SET = 0xff to all the devices in the association group 1. When the alarm clears BASIC_SET = 0x0 will be transmitted. BUT. If you enable the broadcast feature, then option 5 can be used to select what kind of a frame will be broadcasted. There are only two options in the option nr.5, BASIC_SET or ALARM_SENSOR_SMOKE.So here's what happened. Once you set off the alarm, the smoke sensor broadcasted a BASIC_SET, and that's what turned on and off all of your devices. The broadcast functionality is useful, but you can do that with the rule creator anyway, and much more.

Did zipato upgrade your box? Mine was and now is the scheduler not working. Same issue?

I can also see that despite temp update is set to 720 (1h) it's not always like that in the event log. Some hours are gone.
