[To Zipato team] Leaving for 3 weeks, far away from home and I am affraid...

Need Answer

Hi all,

Next month I will be away from home for 3 weeks. My setup currently controls the fans, radiators and the alarm of my home. I never had any internet connection issue.

Due to all the issues I encountered with the Zipabox I am affraid to leave my home and let Zipabox controls it for 3 weeks...

How can I be sure that I will be able to remotely access to my box at anytime without any issue? How can I be sure that all the rules will be properly executed? How can I be sure that the alarm will work as expected?

In other words: Should I trust your solution? Should I believe that all the critical issues will be fixed before the end of this month? Or is it safer to not use the Zipabox for this period expecially because I am far away from my home and I won't be able to reboot/reinit the box?

Thanks in advance for your detailled answer...

I've been away many times for up to 2 weeks and had no issues leaving my Zipabox to run things.

I wouldn't woory too much.

David, I don' know about your setup but mine mixes around 80 433Mhz and zwave devices. During the last 6 months I had (and I still have) so many issues that I doubt about the stability of this box. For example a few months ago I was unable to disarm the alarm: The only solution was to reboot the box locally (remote was not working). So yes I am worried...

I havet about 15 z-wave and 10 433hmz devices. I chose the zipabox duo due to that it hade both z-wave and 433. My setup runs the windowlamps on 433 and the rest on z-wave. Iam thinking about switching to Fibaro, most of my z-wave is Fibaro anyway. I cant integrate cameras and the issues with the alarm/security part of zipabox is a greater downside then having to buy z-wave devices for lamp control. And they got s new interface coming in jan.

Fibaro has issues as well. My electrician says this is the reason he never can recommend these "hobby grade" sollutions. He does not trust them. (and of course, the systems he pushes are 3 times a costly). His main point is wireless. He will never trust it, he says.

In the Fibaro forum there is similar postings like this. And people are talking about changing to Zipato. Same-same but different ;)

If you are out of home, this doesn't mean that we are;-)
