Virtual switch in interface

Need Answer

Hi,

Is it possible to create a virtual composit switch grouping several real switches that I could act like a real switch in my interface Zipato?

Thanks for your help.

Michel

Hi Michel, yes you can.

Create a Virtual switch first.

And a scene for those lights ON. And another one for OFF.

Then a rule similar to this:

WHEN virtual switch ANY

IF virtual switch ON

RUN science 1

ELSE

RUN scene 2

SAVE

You could do this creating a group of lights, but I haven't used this feature yet, so not sure how it works.

Pablo,

Groups work good for triggering actions, not to read status, for example you can create a group of lights and all actions work nicely (I have a few groups of Hue lights, others for Fibaro RGBW controllers) I can trigger actions on rules and they work better than scenes regarding delays (sometimes you can notice some delays between the devices within a scene). But groups do not work for status yet, for example you can create a group of motion sensors, you can use this group on rules but they don't work, also there is no way to configure if you want an OR or AND group for this matter. If Michel's objective is to control via virtual switch I would go with groups instead of scenes, but I guess he can try both and see what he likes better.

Hi,

Thank you for your help.

Finally, I followed the advice of Alberto, I created a group rather than 2 scenes, it's simpler.

However, the virtual switches are much slower to trigger than the real switches, it takes at least 5 seconds before the change of state.

Hhmm... I don't see that big of delay in my rules, will make a test and let you know.

Hi,

The rule works fine but, when the rule toggles the virtual switch, it changes of state without the parameter changing state.

Since the last action on the switch by myself no log was recorded whereas the rule act on the switch. Furthermore, whatever the true state of the switch, it is marked as off in the dashboard.

It's a real mystery.

To try something else, in addition of the action on the switch, I add in the rule a changing of state by the action of a "SET SELECT TO" but none result.

It's incomprehensible.

Regards.

Does your sync process is working properly? I have been getting error messages while syncing new rules or changes on my Zipabox, even from the API, but I'm unsure if this issue is isolated... Zipato support is looking into my issue.

Hi,

Definitively yes.

I modified my rules adding debug messages and I can read those messages.
