Web Interface GUI

Leif shared this idea 9 years ago
Under Consideration

The new interface has been going in both the right and the wrong direction

I like that it looks more stylish in the sense of menu design.

I do not like that:

-a huge space is primarily dedicated to creating rules and temporarily placing statistics windows and nothing else as far as I can see

-it has background images of a wet umbrella, a wet window, ocean, parks in autumn, rain, etc. This is completely uninteresting and is just taking up unnecessary resources

-that it has gone away from the idea of giving you an overview of what is going on; you have to go into detail to check on everything

You are totally free to express your personal comments as a start.

To my understanding one of the goals of Zipato was to: not provide the user with to much info like in the OLD GUI (based upon feedback from users) so they made it look fancy and providing enough "room" to display things like events, extra details, favourites and to be able to work with your rules in a better way.

Sorry but i don't agree. I only use the web UI to make rules and sometimes check somethings.

If I want to control my devices i use the APP 95% of the time.

@HeroS

You don't agree to Zipato's goal (Goal had been described on this forum by Zipato themselves ->cannot find the forum item it was posted on) or with the initial poster?

Zipato's goal should be good support with satisfied users.

It is true, they are trying to support a growing number of products, which is great.

This was also one of the reasons that I bought their product.

Despite complaints from users that the new web interface is not good, and that we prefer to use the old version of the web interface, they went and did the same thing to IOS app.

I think they chose the wrong direction.

i don't understand way the app interface is different from the web interface.

the old gui was poorly organized.

The main page or home screen must be a summary of all salient data like rooms temperatures, rooms blinds status, wheater, graph, alarms status of consumptions etc... plus the minimal control on these controls.

I'm a UI/UX engineer and I'm posting to you a concept of my idea (in this case for wall tablets and desktops) for your dashboard page of Zipabox...

Dear EddyZWave,

that is great! If Zipato is able to realise this, then it is the far best UI of all systems on the market. Thank you so much for sharing this idea. Greetings from Germany.

Dear EddyZWave,

I think your idea is awesome.

I own a small software development company and in case Zipato reject your idea we may

join forces to create alternative UI via the API interface.

Regards,

Boyan

EddyZwave: That is great interface for sure and it will be a big step to have one like this.

The main problem in my view is the fact that there is only one interface for all kind of users. The new UI is ok for configuring the system (even if I have a preference for the old interface) but there is a need for another kind of interface for daily use.

I mean a "simple" dashboard where it is possible to "easily" see what is going on on the different rooms and to act on all the devices of the system. When I say "simple", I mean to drop all what it is what so ever related to the configuration but it can be complex to implement it if we want to have an interface which can feel as been designed for our own specific situation.

@Cédric V. You've right, this my idea is only the first "page",

There's a part of this concept (settings part) that you can drag 'n drop your widgets on a image of your house.

You can make the image of your house like the concept thanks to the free autodesk web software: http://it.homestyler.com/

If you don't want see all the widgets on screen you can hide or show they by the "Show widget" area

If you have 2 or 3 house floor, you can simply swipe your finger on floor image left or right to see the other floors.

It's not difficult to implement this software, I can make it with Unity 3D Game Engine, this option is great to make the software compatible with tablets and desktops,. The power of a Game Engine is "necessary" to make a performance and visionary dashboard.

And you have right, this doesn't substitute the "configuration" of the zipato web gui but it is the "the missing ring" to have a "complete" vision of own home.
