What is the best way to integrate home theater AV devices with Zipato?

is there a way to controle AV receivers, setup boxes etc
No connection

Currently, there are two ways to control A/V equipment: IR and IP http requests. For IR you can use Z-wave to IR transmitter (Remotec ZX120) or you can use one of the many IP to IR devices such as globalcashe, redaye... IP http requests you can also use to directly control A/V devices which support IP requests (smart TVs, newer A/V receivers...).
It is very easy to use IP http requests within a rule creator. There is a "send http request" puzzle which you can use in any rule. Or you can setup your own virtual sensor to get some http message from your external device. For example, when you turn on your smart TV, you can set it up to send http request to your virtual Zipato sensor, and use this sensor within a rule creator to trigger a rule which can turn off the lights or do whatever you would like it to do... Have fun;-)

Thanks for the quick reply!!! Product looks very cool, i am looking for a modular product like yours, and the planned CoCo module would be great for my exiting gear.
I have another question about controlling A/V equipment. In the i-Phone/i-Pad app there is no AV button in the main menu. Is this menu native or adjustable with the online designer?

Could you be more precise giving brands and examples? I am thinking to buy a new AV receiver such as Denon AVR-3313 or Pioneer SC-LX56. These two receivers might be controlled by IP and the manufacturers have developed Ipad and Android applications for them.
However, I would like a smooth integration with the zipabox and that the receiver and the zipabox can understand each other easily. In others words, I would like for example if someone switch on the receiver, it "informs" the external device (here the zipabox) of the change of its status and so on and in the other way around also from the zipabox to be able to switch on or off the AV receiver, to change the volume or a source, etc.
I looked at the user guides and it seems feasible to command an AV receiver from an external device but I don't see how I can declare a virtual sensor on the receiver. In my view, that is important because sometimes, the change will be initiated by the receiver which has to trigger an event for informing the zipabox on his new status. Otherwise if the zipabox initiates always the communication, it might generate delays before reacting.
It will be great to have directly inside the zipabox a list of supported AV receivers where we just need to fill the local IP address for setting-up the association…
