zipatile calendar

Need Answer

The zipatile has a calendar app available as per default.

I would like to use this together with a gmail calendar, either by having it view only (shared calendar) or to actually have read/write to it by using the gmail account.

I've tried to go in to the calendar app and "add calendar" but I cannot get it working. It simply does not show up or it just "searches" for it.

Should/could it work with a google calendar?

why dont you just download the google calender apk and install this. Then you can use this app instead and it will do everything you need.

Because while starting Google calendar a message appears and you need to install google services. And you cant install gapps without rooting the zipatile right?

After kingroot and flashing the gapps wou aren´t capable of recieving automatic updates from zipato, right?

But still, there's a calendar app in the zipatile, based on android OS. I find it rather odd that I should need to root the device to get that function going.

Also, shouldn't I be able to open a network ics calendar? Google calendar supports it and open such network "file" should be easy to at least display the content even if not possible to modify it...

Hi all,

Finally, I've read this thread, but I think primary question has not answer yet.

¿How use default calendar app?

(I've tried gmail, IMAP, POP3 account type and private domains also)

But in all case, when I try to create an Appointment, show the pop-up "You need a calendar account..."

Regards.

Thanks Patrick.

Do it and calendar working.

I think/wish Zipato should consider to include CALDAV like a default apk or gateway. Now, Calendar at least form me, was too unusable.

Another question to the default calendar app. You can't use it in rules? Am I right?

Too bad, but thank you for the quick reply. Greeting Mirko

Yes, the calendar app cannot be used in rules unfortunately. Thats what schedulers are for.

@Vedran,

If the Calendar is sync'ed to a Google Calendar, IFTTT rules can react to text in the calendar and trigger "Maker" HTTP-calls to Virtual devices and thus get rules executed :-)

It's a technically complex, but creative, way to turn on the bedroom lights, start the music/radio and get the coffee machine going, when the Google Calendar has a "WakeMeUp" -appointment
