Automated rule creator?
Under Consideration
User should not need to know any thing about bindings, endpoint or group, Zipato could have a automated rule creator? That asks the right questions, then the user could learn to creat ruls by them self easier, buy looking on the automated rules.
- What name of your new rule do you want?
- What switch do you want to use? (List with switches appear)Also virtual switches and sliders could appear or be created in this stage?
- Is the switch ON or OFF or MONO STBLE? (List will appear) If you choose MONO STABLE a new question will appear: a. Is the switch Normally OPEN or Normally CLOSED?
- What light, socket, rule or scene do you want to control? (List will appear)
- What do you want to happen if you press and hold the switch? (List will appear)
- Do you want something to happened when you double click? (list will appear)
- Do you want something to happened when you triple click? (list will appear) And off course if Zipabox dose not see long press from the device, it only see trigger, that option will not appear. Example. Nexa remote?
- If you want to dim a light as long as the switch is hold like the Qubino dimmer or if you want to dim the light like Nexa with a second push that will start a dimmer cycle, you should be able to do this.
Then if you want to create advanced rules with a simple push of a switch or double tap it should not be that hard to create!
Off course we need good explanations of what different things is what on my.zipato.com.

I totally agree about explanations, samples, tutorials etc.. We are now working on it, and at some point we will integrate them into the UI.
However, I personally disagree that making rules should be simplified more than it is. Our wish is to teach customers how to use it. Once they understand basic principles, they will be requesting flexibility and power (as you do). So generally, simplicity is important for the first week or two, flexibility and power is important for the rest of the life. And simplicity is unfortunately, limiting the flexibility and power:-(
However, we do have Package wizard now for beginners which are not interested in rule creator and other home automations buzzwords. They can just follow the wizard and get these rules up and running with their own device (of course, these rules are pre-configured already by us).
Anyway, this is my personal opinion, final direction will depend of other's opinion too.
btw. thank you for useful suggestion!

I bought the Zipabox without any knowledge about programming at all. Started playing with the rules creator that is available and know a lot more now. I even managed to get my alarm to switch to armed when my wifi network is out of range of my mobile phone, and disarm when I am near my wifi. :-) Though this requires Tasker on an Android phone. With Tasker and Zipabox combined the possibilities are endless.........and not too difficult.
