The easiest way to control the Zipabox from the external system is to create virtual sensors and meters within a Zipato system and associate some rules to them. Afterwards, you can trigger those sensors/meters by using http requests from OpenRemote or such a systems....
Second option is to use API, but this is a bit more advanced and requires more programming experience...

@Sebastian
Is zipato planning any another ways to control the box?
For example trough iftttt.com (SmartThings has this option)?

That would be awesome! Veralite has created a free plugin for VoxCommand to voice control z-wave devices and get info from z-wave devices spoken by the computer.
That would be a great improvement for Zipabox, would even pay some money for that function.

Where can I get the http addresses of the virtual devices created and the syntax to use in order to change their state ?
Thanks in advance.

You can get devices url in the parameter of each virtual sensor/meter you create
Then you can directly switch sensor by pointing to this specific url
You can change virtual meter values too
Using a virtual meter, you can for example specify different actions depending of the value of the virtual meter.
Simply create a rule like this:
WHEN virtual meter = 1
set alarm ON
WHEN virtual meter = 2
set alarm OFF
Don't hesitate if you have other questions

An OpenRemote connection would be an amazing step forward for OpenRemote. Maybe one of the OpenRemote developers can create a connection using the Zipato API's.
