Support HomeEasy / Elro protocol, Elro devices

Under Consideration

It would be very nice if the Zipato box is able to support the Home Easy/Elro protocol. And of course the several Elro devices.

Hi Tom,

The same. In addition:

HE861: motion sensor,

HE852: magnetic sensor

OK, I'm waiting for some device samples to see how much trouble is the protocol; then we'll decide how soon can we support all those devices.

Thanks,

Tom

Of course it's nice to have support for all the domotica-protocols out there. But I'm a bit worried that this will only lead to less attention to other parts of the system, and therefor reduced quality and performance of those parts. If Zipato has to put effort in supporting yet another system, this will most likely mean that the speed of the development for other things has to be reduced.

With help of Z-wave, 433mhz, 0-10v sensors and KNX I can't imagine Elro can add anything really useful at this moment, apart from lower price perhaps.

I think the success of the Zipabox is also dependable of the absolute number of devices they are supporting. Because that number will tell something about the number of houses with some kind of "home automation". The more houses the more Zipaboxes The 433 scene is dominated, at least here in Europe, by 2 major protocols: CoCo and Home Easy by Elro. Because of the fact that these devices are sold by DIY shops many people have sold these cheap things and discovered the problems in the 1way protocol. If you support these protocols you can offer them a very nice migration to the 2-way protocols, whichever the one that might be.
