Tutorial or manual for Rules Creator?

Hello Zipato team!

Ive recently purchased a Zipabox, and I have to say I'm really impressed with some of the features, and the look and feel of the interfaces. I spent a long time deciding between a few systems before I went ahead and bought the Zipabox.

Ive used scratch in the past, so I am partly familiar with the rules creator in theory, but I am struggling with some of the more advanced features.

For instance, I have the backup module, and I see there is a Battery_Status attribute, which I would like to use to create a rule for the Zipabox to push me a message to let me know when the power is out (Discharging vs charging) however, there doesnt seem to be anything I can associate this to (sensor or meter).

I have a couple of Danfoss Radiator valves, and I'm struggling how to set up a virtual device to make some use of them.

Are you in progress with anything more detailed than the few examples here on the Support forum?

I'd really appreciate a more complete section for describing and defining rules.

For more advanced rules, search the community and zipatotv on YouTube. For the radiator valves you need an external temperature meter or thermostat to work as the valve does not send temperature.

Chris,

Take a look at this from the knowledge base;

https://community.zipato.com/knowledge-base/article/the-puzzle-blocks

Or this from the blog;

Regarding the backup module I have the same scenario, cannot test the rule for now but it is a start;

yes Alberto is correct. Look here for explanations and helpful tips, but ultimately you need to experiment yourself.

There are examples and a brief description of the blocks here too.

And Albertos rule should work, I have a similar rule working.

For your backup power issue, do you have a 3g usb installed, or a UPS connected to your router? If not your rule will not work, if so you may need to put in a delay for it to switch to 3g, maybe one minute, before sending a message.

Thanks guys for the really quick responses.

Attila I do have an external thermoeter, (2 actually, an Everspring, and a Zipato 4-in-1 sensor) but I have no attributes for the Danfoss to do anything with it - I'll contact Support for this.

Alberto - thanks a lot for the links, I really appreciate it. The only attribute that seems available is battery level (which is actually Battery Status, and not matching the options) So it is possible to see that the battery is charging or discharging, (power out) but not able to identify when the power is restored, since the status I'm looking for is Normal, but you would need to setup a rule to know when the status (%) is going back up.

I think it needs some work still.

Adrian, I have the Zipato add-on backup module, (My power is really unstable where I live) and yes, I'm using a Huawei LTE USB stick, which is connected to the mobile network with a data contract.
