At Home / Away Detection to trigger push message

Need Answer

Hello everyone,

I'm trying to create a rule that will detect if someone is at Home or away and then set a virtual switch accordingly. This is so I can send me a push notification reminding me to arm my security system if I'm away. As of now I'm still debugging it as it doesn't appear to be working (virtual switch does not change state). Can someone see any problem in my rule? I have created two groups of sensors, Doors and Motion sensors which I'm using to set or reset the switch.

Thanks for the help.

I solved this with a IFTTT.com account. When my phone and my wifes phone Are more then 200m away from our home it arms the zapato to away.

This sounds very interesting. Can you give me/us a small tutorial how to make a presence detection with ifttt.com and the integration in Zipabox?

THANKS!

Create a HTTP sensor.

Create a rule that arms the alarm if value 1 and value 2 of the sensor are "1".

Install IFTT on your phone, and on your wifes phone.

create a recepie on IFTTT with IF, location, leave and type your adress. Select a circle around your home. in the THEN part of the recepie add Maker channel and make it set your HTTP value 1 to "1".

Repeat the previus steps on a your wifes/girlfriend/boyfriends phone but make it set value 2 to "1".

Make a new recepie on IFTT, same principle, but in the IF part, select location and then ENTER. This time make it change set the HTTP value 1 on your phone to "0" when you enter the area around your home. Repeat on the other device aswell.

You can also make a rule that disarm the alarm when one of your devices connects to the home wifi.

all the principles are here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1oiM5VDH9y8

a word of causion though. Since Zipato has been having some server issues lately, there is a risk that this will be slow to react, so you might trip your alarm. Some day in a hopefully not to distant future when we have stable firmware this will be awesome :D

Try rebuilding the rule. When you get it working it will spam you with messages. As it looks a message will be sent everytime the vsensors switches and thats going to be alot.

Naarz,

Indeed my rule would send many messages, I think the problem are the groups for some reason but I havent had time to debug it. Let you know the outcome.

I definitely think the problem is the groups of sensors. I have tried something very simple like the first image and it does turns on/off the switch whereas the second image does not work at all. I guess I would have to open a ticket...

@Attila Hajdu can you share your Home / Away detection setup? I know I saw it somewhere in the forum but cannot find it anymore. I was hoping Zipato would fix their issue with the sensor groups, but its been months and there is no update, they only answer "Please be patient". So I guess I will use your set up.

Hi Alberto, this is one of the posts where it is explained https://community.zipato.com/topic/https-sensor-with-tasker

AMD this is the second topic. In here Nicolas has different approach. His version is one rule that simply repeat as long as the Tasker dies receive a response from Zipato https://community.zipato.com/topic/tasker-examples

And in here you should find my Tasker profile how the rule is set up. https://community.zipato.com/topic/test-of-virtual-switch-state-failing

As to my latest post, the screenshots you find there is for the recurring task. In that I attach the printscreen here how the if rule is looking
